Original's and replacements

Before you Buy a Relay ALWAYS check your manual to insure a Relay will actually work in your machine !!!
Most relays are designed for large signals and will NOT work well at the
very small and delicate signals directly from Tape Recorder Heads!!!


This list is based on Manual Information, Tech Data, studio owner remarks, and various other info...
while it should be correct, the information here is NOT 100% verified.



Manufacturers: PB = Potter Brumfield (now TE Connectivity)
    They still make many versions of the standard 'R10" relay and the KHU series.
 
Aromat is now Panasonic     they still make the HC4E and K4E series relays - hard to find stock though.
 
 

    Note: the original PB relay   R10D-E1-L4-V700   is NO LONGER MANUFACTURED
This was used ONLY in the MCI JH16 Mid and Later version machines.
There is NO DIRECT REPLACEMENT made today
This was a FORM "D" relay... a 'Make-Before-Break' relay... that in itself isn't the problem....
for some reason the POLES of the relay are not the stanard R10 Poles... thus a standard R10 relay
will NOT work as a replacement....

But be aware there have been reports some few R10D relays are really R10 pinout relays...
meaning they will be worthless as a direct replacement.... so you need to check that these are real R10D relays.


Note that Relay prices have skyrocketed over the past couple years.....
mainly because larger sized relays are no longer used much in modern circuit designs...
